Steel Processing from A to Z by KALTENBACH

The industry event IPS 2009 will provide visitors with a complete range of information

It's that time of year again: In mid May, anyone who is anyone in the steel industry can be found at KALTENBACH's in-house trade fair in Lörrach. Alongside the hosts, more than 30 partners will present their products and solutions for steel processing. The main focus of the event this time will be on automation and production processes in steel fabrication and plate processing.

The IPS (International Partners in Steel) is the industry meeting for steel experts, taking place every two years in Lörrach, Germany, at the premises of the full-range supplier for metalworking, KALTENBACH. This event is the only one of its kind in the world. This year, from May 11 to 15, the theme of the event will be "Automation: If Steel Is Your Deal." Alongside KALTENBACH, more than 30 partner companies will present their newest innovations surrounding the topic of steel processing on more than 3,000 square meters of display space. Through numerous presentations and lectures in English and German, industry visitors can find out about current trends in steel fabrication and steel stockholding. Along with representatives of the most important steel associations, the company expects to welcome some 2,500 international visitors from more than 35 countries. Additional highlights of the event include excursions to renowned steel processing companies in Switzerland and France, as well as a diversified evening program.

Presents by KALTENBACH at the IPS 2009:

MSK 471 NA: High-performance straight cutting machine for hard metals

In their all-purpose machine range, KALTENBACH will introduce the newly-developed MSK 471, seen for the first time at the IPS 2009. This is a high-performance straight cutting machine for hard metals with short cut-off lengths and fully-automated process cycles.

KBS1010/KDXS 1015 with AS 1000

A further highlight of the event will be a fully-automated sawing and drilling machine, with the new AS1000 auto-sorter for the automatic sorting of usable parts, first cuts and remnants. In addition, high-speed contour marking and the use of carbide drill bits are real trendsetters.

T13 transport system silencer

A T13 transport innovation. Thanks to the use of a new technology, noise pollution from the "steel on steel" sound when transporting steel sections can be reduced from ear-splitting levels to almost a whisper. Transport technology in steel construction and steel trading will be revolutionised by this new system.

"Skywalk" in the new KALTENBACH Technology Centre (KTC)

Visitors have the opportunity in the newly-designed KTC to observe the world of steel from almost a bird's-eye view on a "skywalk".

New visualisation software

Within the scope of automation technology, the visualisation of production processes plays a crucial role. With its new software, KALTENBACH are able to evaluate process cycles for steel fabrication and show operators where the workpiece is in the process.

The KPS 520: A unique innovation - The fastest punching and shearing machine in the world.

Outstanding features of the new KPS are its large tool magazine and enormously accelerated process times. The punching and shearing range extends up to 500mm for flat steel and up to 200 x 200 x 16mm for angle sections. Drilling, plasma cutting and marking functions are optionally available.
